REGENERATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE IN CREATIVE AND KNOWLEDGE CITIES

ROCK - Regeneration and Optimization of Cultural heritage in creative and Knowledge cities

Fondazione Fitzcarraldo is a partner of ROCK, developed within the framework of Horizon2020, which aims to develop an innovative, collaborative and systemic approach to promote the regeneration and adaptive reuse of historic city centres. By implementing a repertoire of seven successful heritage-led regeneration initiatives (Role models), the objective is to test the replicability of such models in addressing the specific needs of historic city centres in other three cities (Replicators).

Coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna, ROCK aims to transfer the Role Models blueprint to the Replicators, adopting a cross-disciplinary mentoring process and defining common protocols and implementation guidelines. The purpose is to deliver new ways to access and experience Cultural Heritage [CH] ensuring environmental sound solutions, city branding, bottom-up participation via living labs, while increasing liveability and safety in the involved areas. ROCK aims also to implement guidelines and tools to support the concrete application of the ROCK principles and to enable new ways to collect and exchange data to facilitate networking and synergies.

In this framework, Fondazione Fitzcarraldo has been in charge of the activities dealing with the animation of the ecosystem of stakeholder and in particular with the development of a Toolkit on business models in CH-led regeneration processes.

The objective of the Toolkit is, on the one hand, to define a replicable methodology for the design of business models and financial schemes useful to place-based strategies of CH-led regeneration processes fostering economic growth and social inclusion, and, on the other hand, to provide guidelines and canvas for the different actors involved in CH-led regeneration initiatives. The Toolkit is available here (D3.2): https://rockproject.eu/documents-list
