BE SPECTACTIVE! SECOND EDITION

2018-2022

Be SpectACTive! Second edition

Since December 2014, Be SpectACTive! is a large-scale European cooperation project which operates in performing arts through artistic productions and participatory practices aimed at involving the citizens in creative processes, for a more inclusive and trans-cultural Europe.

Being awarded for a second time by the European Union, the new project kicked-off on December 1st 2018 involving a broader partnership with 19 partners from 18 different cities in 15 European countries. The project leader of the network is Associazione CapoTrave/Kilowatt (IT).

The new edition presents itself once again as a production and action research-oriented project. 15 new theatre and dance shows will debut after a program of 68 creative residencies; the network will form 50 local groups of active spectators involved in co-programming and co-managing activities together with 8 local communities that will commission 4 artistic works (European Arts Commissioner). The new edition promotes also a new professional figure in the partners' venues, the Community Manager who is in charge of facilitating the relationship among the organization, the active spectators, the artists and the local community.

Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, together with the other 3 research centers, is in charge of the action research for the entire project. Knowledge coming from the analysis of the impacts of participative practices on organizations, artists and audiences, will nurture the exchange of internal knowledge, skills and resources in the framework of a peer-learning network. The second line of research aims to analyze and compare national, regional and local public cultural policies encouraging participation, co-creation and co-decision in the field of culture. A third level of research is intended to collect case studies on participatory practices activated in other cultural and creative sectors in Europe. The research team is also in charge of the capacity building program addressed to the Community Managers.

The partners:
