Abstract
Connect – Knowledge Alliance for Audience Development is a European project funded by the Erasmus+ programme that promotes new mechanisms of innovative cooperation between universities, cultural institutions, and cultural sector professionals at the European level. The aim is to bridge the gap between the academic world and the cultural labour market, with a particular focus on the skills and strategies necessary for audience development.
Goals
In Italy, Connect, through a strong international partnership, proposed a pilot training programme that was simultaneously tested in Denmark, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Spain, involving over 200 professionals, including cultural institutions, teachers, mentors, and students.

Our role
Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, together with Melting Pro, co-ordinated the Connecting Audiences training programme in Italy. The programme selected 12 cultural institutions and 12 university students or graduates who attended a series of workshops to develop specific skills in organisational and audience analysis, project design and implementation, and leadership.
During the programme, students and professionals worked together on setting up an audience development pilot project within the participating institutions.
