Abstract

The Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts Fellowship is a transformative programme designed to connect and support visionary leaders of arts organisations driven by community engagement and social change across Europe. The programme will welcome up to 15 leaders working across diverse artistic disciplines and societal issues, who will work together to overcome challenges, share experiences and create innovative solutions that create greater impact within their local communities and the wider arts sector in Europe.
This Fellowship is a pioneering initiative promoted by the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts, a coalition of some of Europe’s leading arts philanthropic arts foundations that, uniting substantial resources and building a collaborative network, provide support and a connected voice to help socially engaged arts to thrive.

Goals

The Fellowship seeks to unlock the potential of socially engaged arts as a catalyst for meaningful change. By centering communities in the creative process, we can address Europe’s most pressing challenges and reimagine the role of the arts as a driver for change.

Guided by this vision, the Fellowship sets out to:

  • Empowering leaders: equip socially engaged arts leaders with the tools, resources, and confidence needed to scale their work and amplify its impact.
  • Driving change: foster a new narrative around socially engaged arts, advocating for their essential role in addressing societal challenges and promoting inclusion, resilience, and creativity.
  • Building a network: establish a dynamic, transnational network of socially engaged arts practitioners, enabling collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action.
  • Sustaining impact: strengthen the sustainability of socially engaged arts organisations by providing access to innovative funding strategies, participatory evaluation methods, and tailored mentorship.
