Abstract
ADESTE+ is a large-scale European cooperation project aimed at expanding cultural participation, structured through “capacity building” paths for organizations based on “design thinking” and “collaborative learning.” The project involved designing and producing shows, programs, and activities for diverse audiences, along with the realization of three international Summer Schools (Lisbon, Rijeka, and Turin), moments of exchange and learning for hundreds of professionals from across Europe.
For the first time, partners representing the entire cultural sector chain were brought together on an equal and organic basis: those shaping policies, those producing and organizing, those studying, and those consuming. This holistic approach aimed to restore the articulation and complexity of the cultural sector, often hesitant to share know-how and experiences. tion and complexity of the cultural sector, often hesitant to share know-how and experiences. The cascade program involved 60 organizations from Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Lithuania, Germany, France, and Poland.

Our role
Fondazione Fitzcarraldo served as the project leader, with 15 partners participating in 11 cities across 7 European countries. Over four intense years, the project focused on placing the audience at the center of cultural organizations, involving theaters, museums, and multidisciplinary production centers among the partners.
ADESTE+ did not emerge out of nowhere. Since 2013, many partners have worked together to experiment with new ways of placing the audience at the center. The project addressed challenges such as producing quality content accessible to all through innovative approaches to make change possible and replicable.
The shared journey resulted in a support tool for cultural organizations â ACED (Audience Centred Experience Design) model: a toolbox to enhance work with audiences It is aimed at institutional teams, cultural project managers, trainers, consultants, facilitators, and policymakers â everyone interested in establishing meaningful relationships with their audience and communities.
During the Adeste+ project, the methodology was tested and improved through collaboration with artistic partners, a cascade program with dozens of organizations, and three summer schools involving over 200 professionals. Through the dedicated website, we aim to share case studies, methods, and resources with industry professionals, including the complete model available in PDF in 7 languages.
